    Shaoni Mitra, the female champ of TVS Sa Re Ga Ma 1996, is a sparkling star on the Indian music horizon today. She is a musical genius with voice of a nightingale. Her repertoire of songs span a vast spectrum of Indian music from pure Classical to Modern or Pop, Geet and Bhajans to Ghazals. She sings both in Hindi and Bangla with equal ease. Her songs in Bangla include Ragpradhan, Nazrulgeeti and Aadhunik. Shaoni has conquered the heart & soul of music lovers through out the world with her scintillating performances. Her song ‘Tomar Jonyo’ has topped the music charts for several weeks on all the FM radio channels of Kolkata.


    Born in a family of music connoisseurs, Shaoni began her training in Indian Classical Vocal at a tender age of six. Under the able guidance of Smt. Arati Bagchi at ‘Saurabh’ Music Academy Kolkata, she earned her Sangeet Kriya Visharad with distinction and Gold Medal. She also received a scholarship from Sangeet Research Academy and trained under the eminent Pt. Ajoy Chakraborty.


    Early in her career, Shaoni participated in several music contests like The Dover Lane Talent Search Contest, Rajya Sangeet Academy, Pt. Ravi Kitchlu Foundation Golden Talent Search Contest, etc and earned top honors.


    In 1993, Shaoni earned the title of ‘Surmani’ from ‘Kal Ke Kalakar’ Mumbai. In 1996, Shaoni was crowned the Queen of ‘TVS Sa Re Ga Ma’, a very popular reality show hosted by Zee TV, India.


    Her first solo album was released in 1997. Since 1998, Shaoni is a panel artist of HMV. She is a regular voice on All India Radio and Television. She is also a panel artist of the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR). Today Shaoni is busy artist engaged in numerous playback singings, album recordings and stage performances both in India and abroad.
